At Structural Component Academy (SCA), we transform the complexity of truss and component design into simple, practical training for the next generation of structural designers. Rooted in decades of hands-on experience, SCA combines technical expertise with real-world applications – helping students, builders, and professionals gain the confidence to design safe, efficient, and innovative structures.
The story of SCA begins with our founder and her father a builder, mentor, and innovator. Growing up as his shadow, she learned early on the value of hard work, precision, and curiosity. From job sites to truss plants, she immersed herself in every aspect of the industry, eventually working with two of the largest plate connector companies in the world.
Her journey wasn’t just about mastering skills – it was about passion. Passion for the craft, for the people behind it, and for passing on knowledge so the next generation could build with confidence.
When asked to train a young student on truss design, she realized how powerful it was to combine software learning with real-world jobsite lessons. That moment lit the spark for Structural Component Academy. Today, SCA is the realization of that dream: to create accessible, affordable, and impactful training for anyone who wants to enter or grow within the truss and structural component industry.
Our mission, vision, and values are at the core of everything we do. They shape the way we teach, support our students, and contribute to the industry.
SCA offers self-paced, affordable online courses that prepare students for one of the most in-demand roles in construction: truss and structural component design.
Our approach combines technical training, practical application, and career preparation – so you’re not just learning software, you’re learning how structures really come together.
SCA is more than training – it’s a commitment to making a difference. Following our founder’s philosophy, we dedicate 10% of profits to support organizations that help children with special needs, including the two facilities that have supported her own twin boys.
