giving back

At Structural Component Academy, we believe in paying it forward. We’ve been blessed to build a thriving learning community, and part of that success is giving back to causes that are close to our hearts. That’s why we donate 10% of our profits to organizations that provide care, support, and opportunities for individuals with special needs.

Our Founder's Inspiration

The heart of SCA’s giving comes from our founder, Sheila Yant, and her personal journey as a mother of twins with severe disabilities. During pregnancy, twin-to-twin transfusion caused life-altering complications: Jonathen, her oldest son, suffered a stroke leading to cerebral palsy and cortical blindness, while Jacob, her younger son, also faced severe challenges and passed away at a young age.

Through years of care, therapy, and learning to navigate the medical system, Sheila gained a deep understanding of the needs of children and adults with special needs. She witnessed firsthand the dedication of facilities that provide care, therapy, and meaningful opportunities for these individuals, and she wanted to make a lasting impact.

When developing SCA, Sheila participated in a business course that emphasized structuring a purpose-driven company. One of the key takeaways was to commit a portion of profits to a cause you care deeply about. Inspired by this guidance, she pledged from the very beginning to donate 10% of course profits to charities supporting individuals with special needs.

The Charities We Support

Sheila chose to support Beverly Farm and Hope Academy, two organizations that provide life-changing support for people with special needs:

Beverly Farm

A community that cares for adults with disabilities, helping them live full, meaningful lives. Jonathen, Sheila's oldest son, lives at Beverly Farm, where he receives compassionate care and opportunities to thrive.

Hope Academy

An organization dedicated to supporting children and adults with special needs through education, therapy, and enrichment programs.

By donating a portion of course tuition, SCA ensures that students not only gain valuable skills and training but also contribute to improving the lives of individuals who need support and resources to reach their potential.

Making an Impact Together

Every time you enroll in an SCA course, you’re helping create opportunities for adults and children with special needs. Your investment in your education is also an investment in someone else’s life, and together we can make a meaningful difference.
